How to Make St. Patrick's Day Cupcakes

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 1/2 cup Guiness or stout beer
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 eggc

Equipment

  • 1 large mixing bowl
  • 1 spatula
  • 1 electric mixer
  • 2 medium mixing bowl
  • 1 whisk
  • 1 spoon
  • 1 cupcake pan with cupcake linersc 

Make St. Patrick's Day Cupcakes

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Add the beer and butter to your large mixing bowl and mix. 
  3. Add cocoa powder and mix with electric mixer on low.
  4. Set aside and combine dry ingredients in your medium mixing bowl - flour, sugar, salt and baking soda. 
  5. Whisk together and set aside.
  6. In your other mixing bowl, combine the egg and sour cream with electric mixer on low.
  7. Combine the wet ingredients, adding the egg and sour cream to your chocolate, beer and butter mixture. 
  8. Add the dry ingredients, gradually, combining with your electric mixer on low.
  9. Spoon your mixture into your cupcake liners in the cupcake pan, filling each cup about 3/4 full.
  10. Place in the oven for 17 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of each cupcake comes out clean.
  11. Let cool for 10 minutes before you frost, ideally with St. Patrick's Day frosting.
